How to Enable VT-X on the BIOS or UEFI in Windows 10 PC

Current processors include hardware virtualization capabilities that can be used to accelerate virtual machines created in VirtualBox, VMware, Hyper-V and other applications. However, these functions are not always enabled by default.

Virtual machines are beautiful things. With virtualization applications it is possible to run a complete virtual machine in a single window of the current system. You can run different operating systems on this virtual machine, test applications in an isolated environment and easily experiment with functions. These virtual machine applications require hardware acceleration functions built into modern processors. For Intel processors, this means Intel VT-x hardware acceleration. For AMD processors, this means AMD-V hardware acceleration.

The following error messages may appear at any time in virtual machine applications:

  • VT-x / AMD-V hardware acceleration is not available on your system
  • This host supports Intel VT-x, but Intel VT-x is disabled.
  • This computer’s processor is not Hyper-V compatible.

There are several reasons for these errors. First, you can disable the hardware acceleration. On Intel-based systems, the Intel VT-x can be disabled via the BIOS settings or UEFI firmware. In fact, it is often turned off by default on new computers. This is not a problem on systems with AMD processors. The AMD-V is always on, so there is no need to change the BIOS or UEFI settings.

These errors can also occur if you try to use a virtualization application such as VMWare or VirtualBox when you already have Microsoft Hyper-V installed. Hyper-V supports these hardware acceleration functions and other virtualization applications do not have access to them.

We now recommend that you use this tool to correct the error. The tool also corrects common computer errors, protects against file loss, malware and hardware failures, and optimizes your PC for optimal performance. With this software you can quickly solve IT problems and prevent others from suffering from them:

  • Step 1 : Download the PC Repair and Optimization Tool (Windows 10, 8, 7, XP, Vista – Microsoft Gold Certified).
  • Step 2 : Click the Start scan button to detect problems in the Windows registry that may cause problems with the PC.
  • Step 3 : Click the Restore All button to solve all problems.

  1. Press Start and select Settings.
  2. Under Settings, click Update and Security.

  6. Under Advanced Options, select the UEFI firmware settings.
  7. If you don’t have the UEFI Firmware Settings option, you can also find the option to enable Intel vt-x on the BIOS screen of my HP Envy. Depending on the brand of the computer, for example, you can try pressing the F-key. B. F12 (Toshiba), F10 (HP), etc. Dee’s at the beginning to get there.

Problems starting UEFI – Advanced Options – UEFI Firmware Settings Screenshot

Almost all modern laptops have the UEFI instead of the BIOS. The BIOS hasn’t been completely removed, it’s now called Legacy BIOS. You do not need to run the BIOS utility to change the BIOS settings. The use of the BIOS program is confusing and often difficult. But with the UEFI it’s very easy. Let’s see how this happens in Windows 10.

  • Go to Start, Windows Settings via Start -> Settings or type Settings in the search box on the taskbar. Then click on Update and Security.
  • Click on the Restore button in the left pane and click Restart now in the Advanced Startup section.
  • Wait for the system to restart, then click the Troubleshoot button.
  • In the Troubleshooting section, click the Advanced Settings button.
  • Under Advanced Options, click UEFI Firmware Settings.
  • UEFI Firmware Settings – Click the Reboot button.
  • After restarting, enter the BIOS.

In the BIOS, change the setting from Disabled to Enable for Intel Virtualization Technology. After switching from off to on, press F10 (or another option on your system). Find the save and restart button on the side or bottom) of the system to save and restart. You’re done with that.

This document describes how to enable or disable hardware virtualization technology in your computer’s BIOS. Virtualization technology allows you to create a virtualized IT infrastructure.

  • Turn on the computer and immediately press F10 to enter the BIOS.
  • In the Security tab, use the up and down arrow keys to select USB Security and press Enter.
  • Use the up and down arrows to select the virtualization technology (VTx) and then use the left and right arrows to select On or Off.
