WeAreDelphix: Meet Lindsey Nguyen – Security Boulevard
What do you do at Delphix and why did you join the company?
I’m an engineer on the SDK’s virtualization team. I am responsible for creating new features for the SDK and ensuring that any issues that arise with our product are resolved. At the moment I am working on transferring our Jython runtime plugin, which only supports Python 2, to a separate process in the docker container. This enables us to support our customers in the future by adding new languages in addition to Python.
I joined Delphix five years ago after graduating from the University of Washington. While my search for a job began with a study of large technology companies, my job interview experience convinced me that I could join them. From the beginning I felt personal and hospitable and I appreciated the opportunity to meet and talk to different people on the team.
Can you ask me something about… ?
Sybase ASE or Virtualization SDK. I wrote most of the code to support our Sybase product, including the device layout, so Sybase databases have the same device layout as the original production database.
What’s the coolest Delphix project?
My favorite project was to write a virtualization SDK to support plug-ins written in Python. The idea of writing something that would allow our customers to update plugins was exciting because this feature is part of the attempt to get plugin authors to stop developing Lua toolkits and switch to Python plugins. For the first time, I also led a large team, in which I was responsible for the design, development and implementation of the project together with my team members. It was difficult to keep the project on schedule, but it was very helpful once we finished.
What are your hobbies or passions outside Delphix?
When I was a kid, my family loved homemade food. And thanks to them, I was able to keep my passion for home cooking. When I moved into my own house, I started learning to cook for myself, always looking for new recipes to try! Here are some of my favorites.

What motivates you every day?
I’m motivated by the hurry I feel when I’m on time. This is especially useful if everything is well planned for the time available. When I see how things go together, I do my best every day.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever had?
First set your priorities, because only you are responsible for yourself. If I keep this climax of the mind, I can maintain my self-confidence and protect myself both inside and outside of work.
